Day 13: Jesus is the Head of His Church

40 DAYS OF DEVOTION

WHO IS HE?

He Is the Head of His Church – “I will build My church, and the gates of Hades will not stand against its growth. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven. The Father put all things under Jesus’ feet and gave Him as head over all things to the church. He is the head of the body, the church, and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything. He Himself is the Savior of the body. The church is subject to Christ. In Him the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. Christ nourishes and cherishes the church. We overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loves us. He will present to Himself the church in all her glory” (Mt 16:18, 19, Eph. 1:22, Col 1:18, Eph 5:23, 5:24, Eph 2:21, 5:29, Rom 8:37, Eph 5:27).

 WHO ARE WE?

We are His Body “Remember you were separate from Christ, but now you have been brought near by the blood of Christ. Speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ. I rejoice in my sufferings. In my flesh I do my share on behalf of His body, which is the church, in filling up what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions. Hold fast to the Head, from whom the entire body is supplied and held together by the joints and ligaments, growing with a growth which is from God. Abide in Me and do not wither. Bear much fruit. I spit the lukewarm out. I advise you to buy from Me. Hear My voice. Dine with Me. He who overcomes, I will grant to him to sit with Me on My throne as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne” (Eph 2:12, 13, 4:15, Col 1:24, 2:19, Jn 15:5, 6, Rev 3:16, 18, 20, 21).
