Our King puts LOVE FIRST
“You shall love the Lord your God will all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. You shall love your enemies as yourself” (Deut 6:5-9, Mt 22:37, 39)
We love the Lord Jesus, our church family, our neighbors and even our enemies. Why? Throughout the Bible, GOD IS LOVE (1 Jn 4:8)!
The Lord loved Adam and Eve, even after they sinned. The Lord loved the nation of Israel, calling Himself this Zealous Husband (Hos 3:1). For God so loved the world, He gave His only Son, that whoever believe in Him will not perish, but will have eternal life (Jn 3:16).
He works all things together for good for those who love Him. We are more than conquerers through His love (Rom 8:28, 37)
We live in the love of the Lord (Lk 10:25-28)
We love much because we have been forgiven of much (Lk 7:36-50). Love releases our spiritual gifts (1 Cor 13:1-14:1). We can pray for more love (Eph 3:14-21).
Learning to love like Jesus transforms us
He told His disciples to lift up your eyes and see that the fields (of people) are ripe for harvest (Jn 4:35). Seeing the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were distressed and downcast, like sheep without a shepherd. Having summoned His twelve disciples, He sent them out. (Mt 9:36, 10:1). The love of Christ molds us (2 Cor 5:14).
